Today is a special day, It's mothers day. I wanted to do something special for my mother in law so I thought why not document the female generation for her and her daughter & grand daughters to enjoy. I called them up and set it up. I met them at their house at 1PM mid day sun. Ugh! obviously I didn't think about that now did I. Every photographer knows this is the absolute worse time to shoot. Harsh shadows and blinding sunshine are not the portrait photographers friends. I walked around the yard and found only dappled light no shade at all. So we decided to go to the local park and check it out. This is the result!
As you can see we searched all over and found no good shade we stood behind a tree but I was not happy with this result. I tried to use my flash to fill but I am not proficient with it yet so I have a hard time knowing how to set my settings up. I only shoot in Manual so it is a learning curve for sure. I love them and I love this shot because it's them but the lighting is poor and not what I would like. so we took a few shots here then moved around.
I love this shot of Nana with her daughter April and her grand daughters Tavia and Samantha.
I saw a back stop across the park and thought maybe it would provide some shade so on we went and sure enough it had a small patch of shade about three foot wide only. So we parked it there to finish up. The ground was wet so we could not sit on the ground and the back stop was Green of all colors but it was what we had to work with.
As you can see I do favor lots of contrast, I am finding this to be my style I think, I was not sure how to find what your style is but they are right when they say you will figure it out. I like the bold colors and deep contrast for sure. Did I mention the wind on this day. We kept getting gusts of wind that was so distracting also we kept having to adjust clothing and hair. It was quite comical to say the least.
Somehow I do not have a individual picture of Nany April with the oldest grandchild which obviously I missed this makes me sad. Next time I'll make a list of shots to take so I don't forget any one. Look at Olivia and Bianca These children are very Photogenic to say the least. I could take pictures of all three all day. I love this Picture of April I keep staring at it.
What can you say about sisters. The bond they share the love they have for each other. Samantha and Tavia have a great sisterly bond that can never be broken. Beautiful aren't they? I certainly think so. I love you two.
This is my Beautiful Niece Tavia and her Lovely daughter Bianca. Tavia has the greatest sense of humor she totally kept me laughing throughout this session as well as everyone else.
The girls have a great relationship with their Aunties also.
